Compared to other resorts the Best Things to Do at Fort Wilderness Campground are unique. After all, it offers guests of the opportunity to enjoy seclusion from busy surroundings and several countryside activities. Below we’ve categorized the best recreation options and provided phone numbers throughout to make planning easier. Check out the Fort Wilderness map for locations.

Activities

Once you’re checked in be sure to check out the activities schedule. Monthly schedules layout the arts and crafts done at the Marina. Among other things guests can enjoy gatherings, games, dance parties, trivia, and pin trading. Although we’ve shared one as an example you will need to get an updated schedule as activities are routinely changed.

Grounds

  Occupying kids for hours during your stay will not be a problem at the Fort. Playgrounds are located at the Meadow Recreation Area, near loop 300, and loop 1300. Also, near the Meadow guests will discover a volleyball court, tennis court, shuffleboard, hopscotch, and horseshoes. Another sports area is near loop 300. No worries if you don’t have balls because housekeeping will deliver them after you call from any comfort station. Furthermore, anyone looking for good running trails and biking pathways will be delighted. Guest Services will provide a map of trails and pathways if requested. Pools

 Guests with kids or looking for some leisure time will come to appreciate the two pools at the Fort. Hot tubs and facilities are available at both pool areas.  However, the Meadows Recreation pool definitely will be be most appealing to the kids as it features a slide, splash pad, and pool side activities. Additionally, there is a snack bar and drink station that makes this pool more popular. However, those that prefer a quieter area are better off heading over to the pool in the Cabin Loops. Guests don’t have to be staying in a cabin to access this pool.

Waterways

 Several options also exist for folks wanting to explore the waterways. Guest have choice between boat rentals, fishing excursions, canoe rentals, and kayak rentals right at the campground.  Canoe and kayak rentals can be retrieved from the Bike Barn after arrangements are made by calling (407) 824-2932. Boat rentals are made on a first come, first serve basis at the Marina Area. Call (407) 939-2277 for guided Fishing Excursions that will depart from the Marina Area and last 2-4 hours.

Gem Mining

Guests can pan for gems at the Assay Station in the Meadows Outpost. Bags of gems can be purchased at the Bike Barn where you’ll also receive trays. Simply drop your tray into the channel, pour in contents of the bag of gems, and sift as if you’re panning for gold.

Equestrian Activities

 Disney offers many opportunities to enjoy horses and ponies at the Fort. Guests visiting the Circle D Ranch will see different equine breeds and displays at the barn. Additionally, there are pony rides, wagon rides, holiday sleigh rides, and even trail rides at the Fort . Call (407) 939-7529 in advance to to book a trail ride or holiday sleigh ride.

Movies and Campfires

Heading down past the Meadow Recreation Area you will find the area designated for nightly movies and campfires. Generally at around 7pm the Chip n’ Dale Campfire Sing Along will start. After sharing some laughs then hang around to roast some marshmallows and wait for the 8pm movie to begin. After all, it is a great way for families and kiddos to wind down after a long day. Looping

 Golf carts are frequently used at the Fort to enjoy the pastime that has been coined “looping”. Guests that participate deck out their carts for special occasions and show them off for others to enjoy as they parade through different loops. Golf Cart rentals are available to those without their own cart. Call (407) 824-2742 in advance to reserve a cart. Otherwise, research outside companies that are permitted to access the campground with golf cart rentals. 

Segway’s

  One lovely way guests can see more of the Fort is by zooming around on a segway. Wilderness Back Trail Adventure Tours start by a short equipment tutorial and lead guests over mostly paved pathways. Along the tour guides provide a brief history of the campground as you scoot and even take the time to visit the horses. Riders must be able to handle and operate the segway safely. Therefore, users must be at least 16 years of old. Schedule your tour by calling (407) 939-8687.

Archery

Furthermore, the Fort offers 75 minute lessons with an Archery Guide to guests at least 7 years of age. Personalized instructions are provided to a class size of no more than 10 people. Thereafter, target practicing will begin once you’ve learned how to use a compound bow. Book this experience by calling (407) 939-7529.

Arcades

 Also, guests will find two arcades at the Fort should the great outdoors becomes too wet or hot. One is Davey Crockets Arcade located by the Settlement Trading Post and the other at Daniel Boones Arcade by the Meadow Trading Post. These are cashless therefore you’ll need a card or your magic band to purchase a rechargeable play card.

Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue

 Although this really isn’t an activity it is definitely entertaining. Guests are sure to have a rowdy good time at this comedy dinner show at the Pioneer Hall. As entertainers interact with the crowd guests are served their beverages in mason jars and meals on metal dishware that is oftentimes noisily slammed down. Seating options are on the main floor, back of the room, and side balconies. Definitely take advantage of your 60 day dinning reservation window to book this experience in advance. Call Disney Dinning at (407) 824-5967. Alternatively, Mouse Dinning is a great resource to those having difficulty getting a reservation.

Electrical Water Pageant

 Along the beach at the marina guests often gather to watch this classic floating parade. As it proceeds along the Seven Seas Lagoon patriotic music is funneled into the marina area as the lights flash from sea creatures to flags. Before you head out grab a chair to take along as there is no seating.
