Compared to other resorts, Fort Wilderness Activities are unique and abundant! After all, it is Disney and a campground. There is plenty of things to do at Fort Wilderness including exploring, entertainment, and activities. Fort Wilderness Activities
1. Scheduled Activities
Once you’re checked in be sure to check out the activities schedule. Monthly schedules lay out the arts and crafts done at the Marina. Guests can also enjoy gatherings, games, dance parties, trivia, and pin trading If you are not given one at check-in, be sure to ask Guest Services for the activity schedule.
2. Playgrounds, Courts, & Games
Occupying kids for hours during your stay will not be a problem at the Fort. Playgrounds are located at the Meadow Recreation Area, near loop 300, and loop 1300. Also, there are volleyball courts, tennis courts shuffleboard, hopscotch, and horseshoes near the Meadow. There are several basketball courts throughout the grounds and other sports areas near Loop 300. No worries if you don’t have balls or there aren’t any onsite. Call housekeeping from the comfort station and they will deliver one to you. Additionally, there is the Waggin Tails playground for your furbabies to burn off some energy too.
3. Pools and Hot Tubs
Guests with kids or looking for some leisure time will come to appreciate the two pools at the Fort. Hot tubs and facilities are available at both pool areas. However, the Meadows Recreation pool definitely will be most appealing to the kiddos. It features a slide, splash pad, and poolside activities. Additionally, there is a snack bar and drink station that makes this pool more popular. Those that prefer a quieter area are better off heading over to the pool in the Cabin Loops. Guests don’t have to be staying in a cabin to access this pool.
4. Waterway Activities

There’s also several options for exploring the waterways. Guests can choose between boat rentals, fishing excursions, canoe rentals, and kayak rentals right at the campground.
Canoe and kayak rentals can be retrieved from the Bike Barn. by calling (407) 824-2932. Boat rentals are made on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Marina Area. Call (407) 939-2277 for guided Fishing Excursions that will depart from the Marina Area and last 2-4 hours. Costs vary so check that out when you call
5. Gem Mining
Guests can pan for gems at the Assay Station in the Meadows Outpost. Bags of gems can be purchased at the Bike Barn where you’ll also receive trays. Simply drop your tray into the channel, pour in contents of the bag of gems, and sift as if you’re panning for gold.
6. Equestrian Activities
Disney offers many opportunities to enjoy horses and ponies at the Fort. Guests visiting the Circle D Ranch will see different equine breeds and displays at the barn. Additionally, there are pony rides, wagon rides, holiday sleigh rides, and even trail rides at the Fort . Call (407) 939-7529 in advance to to book a trail ride or holiday sleigh ride. Pony rides are $8 for one lap and $12 for two laps around. Kids really enjoy these activities. Parents also love to grab some snap shots of their little’s dressed up Western Attire.
7. Movies and Campfires
Heading down past the Meadow Recreation Area you will find the area designated for nightly movies and campfires. Generally at around 7pm the Chip n’ Dale Campfire Sing Along will start. After sharing some laughs then hang around to roast some marshmallows and wait for the 8pm movie to begin. After all, it is a great way for families and kiddos to wind down after a long day. Schedules for these activities are provided upon your arrival or you can call (407) 939-7529. S’more kits are available onsite from the Chuck Wagon.
8. Looping

Loopin’ as its called, is a campground fan favorite. Golf carts aren’t only used for getting around the very large grounds though. Many folks decorate their carts for holidays, special occasions, or simply because they’re at the Fort. Seeing the carts decked out definitely adds festivity to a campground stay! Loopin’ has become so popular that the love is shared on T-shirts. None are offered at the camp stores though. Here’s a link to Loopin’ T-shirts so you can grab some for the family before your trip.
Cart rentals are available to those without their own cart. Call (407) 824-2742 in advance to reserve a cart. There is also the more cost-effective option of renting from an outside vendor. The catch is that you’ll need a way to bring the bring the golf cart in yourself. Here you can find Disney’s golf cart policy to review if you’re bringing your own or a rental. Golf cart rentals are $59 per day plus tax.
9. Segways on Wilderness Back Trail Adventure
One lovely way guests can see more of the Fort is by zooming around on a Segway. Wilderness Back Trail Adventure Tours start by a short equipment tutorial and lead guests over mostly paved pathways. Along the tour guides provide a brief history of the campground as you scoot and even take the time to visit the horses. Riders must be able to handle and operate the Segway safely. Therefore, users must be at least 16 years of old. Schedule your tour by calling (407) 939-8687 and expect to pay $85-100 per person.
10. Archery
Furthermore, the Fort offers a 75 minute lessons with an Archery Guide to guests at least 7 years of age. Personalized instructions are provided to a class size of no more than 10 people. Thereafter, target practicing will begin once you’ve learned how to use a compound bow. Book this experience by calling (407) 939-7529 at the cost of $39 per person.
11. Arcades
Also, guests will find two arcades at the Fort should the great outdoors becomes too wet or hot. One is at Davey Crockett’s Arcade located by the Settlement Trading Post. There’s another called Daniel Boone’s Arcade by the Meadow Trading Post. These are cashless therefore you’ll need a card or your magic band to purchase a rechargeable play card.
12. Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue
This is one of many very popular Fort Wilderness activities.. Here guests are entertained by the rowdy good time had at this comedy dinner show at Pioneers Hall. Guests are served their beverages in mason jars and meals on metal dishware. As they eat the cast members go into to the crowd to tease and pull them into the show. It truly is a unique, funny show that’s well worth the money! Seating options are on the main floor, back of the room, and side balconies. 13. Crockett’s Craft Corner Woodshop Signs
Create your own souvenir by painting a rustic wood sign. It costs $75 per person. Reservations for this take place at Pioneer Hall at Crockett’s Tavern every Tuesday at 11:30 am – 2 pm.. This has become very popular so booking ahead is recommended.
14. Running or Jogging Trails
Guests looking for some good jogging trails or for an opportunity to explore running trails will be delighted. Guest Services provides a map of trails and pathways so you can ask for that when you arrive.
15. Electrical Water Pageant

This is held on Seven Seas Lagoon and can be viewed from the campground beach. As it passes through, you’ll hear it’s timeless tunes as different scenes are displayed.
