You’re certainly not alone if you’re thrilled to be planning a trip to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. Once the reservations are made it’s only natural to start wondering if you will be able to Pick Your Campsite at Fort Wilderness.
Unfortunately, the short answer might be disappointing. Unlike other campgrounds Fort Wilderness doesn’t allow for specific campsites to be reserved. Even so there is some good news on the topic. Campsite requests can be submitted. Although they won’t be guaranteed Disney does make every attempt to be accommodating.
Before doing that take some time to consider the loops and sites that would be most suitable. If you’d like information on specific sites Fort Friends has a unique app. It provides pictures along with the length and width of specific sites. Here is also information on Loops at Fort Wilderness and Finding Peak Season Reservations in case it’s needed.
Submit a Request rather than Pick your Campsite at Fort Wilderness
Once you’ve chosen a couple of sites in a few loops within the category that you have reserved then submit your requests. Here’s the process;
- First, set aside some free time to call. Be prepared to provide your requests in order. Disney’s reservation line is (407) 939-7529.
- Next fax a written request to Fort Wilderness Reservations. Campsite assignments are made 10 days in advance. Be sure not to fax them any sooner. All that will do is risk your request being lost in the shuffle. Fax your letter to (407) 824-3508
- Lastly, call on the day of your arrival to inquire about your site number and when you’ll have access to your campsite. Fort Wildernesses front desk is (407) 824-2900
Following these steps will increase the likelihood of securing particular sites. However, do keep in mind that it may not be possible to get the sites that you requested. Although that could be disappointing please be gracious and keep in mind that you’re still at Fort Wilderness.
Should you like to see an example of a letter to fax to Fort Wilderness one was shared below. Remember to add to the letter if you have separate reservations in different categories. In that case simply mention that you have a continuous stay and would like to remain on one site for the duration.

Dear Fort Wilderness,
We have a continuous stay from (date) to (date) at the campground. We would greatly appreciate being assigned to one of the __category__ sites below as it would make our vacation go more smoothly (or due to the size of our equipment, ect).
Our first preference is site ____, but if that is not available then ____. Should those be unavailable then ___ or after that ____. Otherwise, our next choice would be ____ or if that isn’t available then ____. However, if none of those can be assigned our last choice would be site ___ or if that is not open then _____.
We very much appreciate your time and effort! Thank you for all the magic you create!
Sincerely,
