After all, the town sits along the picturesque Lake George after which it was named. However, what makes the area even more alluring is the lively coastal vibe that is felt as you stroll through the village. Much of that can be attributed to the lapping waters along the shores of the Lake. However, you will also notice the rich aromas pouring into the streets and music steaming out of nearby pubs.

Although the reasons that people visit are subjective, rest assured that your trip can be arranged to suit your budget and preferences. Nearby and within the village itself there is a variety of lodging accommodations. Choose from resorts, hotel franchises, waterfront motels, and cabin or house rentals. Additionally, there is also island tent camping and RV accessible campsites.

Along the streets you will find a variety of shops, arcades, restaurants, and even rides. There are also nearby boating companies that offer activities such as scenic tours, cliff jumping, and fishing excursions. As for those looking for some independent adventure there are boat and jet ski rentals. Either way you will be carried off to explore the lake or find a refreshing swimming spot.

Aside from all of that there is Six Flags Great Escape that is sure to keep everyone entertained for days. Another amusement park is Lake George Expedition Park. Although it’s underrated it’s bound to get little one’s exploring. One other park to keep an eye out for is Water Slide World in the village. Currently it’s closed due to the death of the owner, but hopefully it will reopen instead of sitting empty.

However, if theme parks aren’t your thing than there are several local beaches. No matter which one you visit swimmers and sunbathers will both appreciate the sand and sun. Otherwise, there is shopping, golfing, biking, tubing, or horseback riding to be enjoyed. Adults are also able to visit a number of nearby breweries and wineries.

Another spot that is is loved by sight seers and hikers is Prospect Mountain. Also, just north of Lake George village, there is the Natural Stone Bridge and Caves. After a visit all levels of hikers will see why people are impressed with the trails and sights. As for the thrill seekers they will be delighted to try out parasailing or white water rafting. Additionally, there are tree top and ziplining courses available at Adirondack Extreme that’s just outside of town.

Visit the Lake George for it’s Enlightening History

Within the region there are even destinations for learners and history lovers. One of the most obvious places to visit is Fort William Henry that can be seen from the village streets. Another well-known spot is Fort Ticonderoga. Upon your visit you’ll also be given access to Kings Garden and Mount Defiance. At the peak of the mountain there is a shocking view of both Lake George and Lake Champlain.

Alternatively, visitors can opt for the self guided scavenger hunt for the Markers and Monuments published in Lake George’s Guide. Furthermore there is the Crown Point State Historic Site. Although it’s lesser known the visitors center still offers an historical background that can be reviewed before heading out to see the ruins of Fort St. Frederick.
